No Loose Ends: Introducing Closed Threads
Threads have always been the backbone of Glue. They’re outcome-oriented spaces designed to help teams focus, collaborate, and get things done. That “done” step is a critical part of the workflow.

Traditional channels often become endless streams of chatter, with no apparent indication of when something is resolved. With threads in Glue, your work has a clear beginning and end. We’re introducing Closed Threads: the ability to mark work as complete and separate it from your active workspace while still preserving all the context.
Closing a thread signals to your whole team that a task is complete, a campaign is finished, or an issue is resolved. It means less clutter, clearer priorities, and a faster path to results.
How it works
Any team member can close a thread (or reopen one that has already been closed). When you want to close a thread, navigate to the action menu and select “Close thread”.
Closed threads are clearly marked, giving you an easy visual cue when scanning your inbox or search results. And if you want to reopen a thread and continue the conversation, simply select Reopen Thread from the action menu.
It’s a small tweak to your workflow, but it evolves how your work is structured in Glue. The ability to resolve tasks delineates the past from the present, creating more context for your work and allowing your team to move forward with precision and focus.
Glue is not a PM tool
We want to be clear: though closed threads allow you to better organize your work, we’re not building a task manager. You won’t find a full suite of assign, prioritize, escalate features here. There are plenty of tools that already do that well. (Shout out to our friends at Linear 👋).
What we’ve built is something different: a communication and action platform that helps teams get work done without turning chat into another tool to manage. Closed threads are a way to keep conversations outcome-driven, not to replace the systems where you track and measure tasks.
What’s next
We’re launching the MVP of closed threads today, but we’re already thinking about where this could go next:
- Cleaner focus – view, filter, and work with just your open threads.
- Integrations – link with ticketing or tracking tools to keep threads in sync.
Every product decision at Glue comes back to the belief that communication should drive outcomes, not create noise. We want your team to focus on what’s active, finish what’s done, and trust that the context will always be accessible by you or Glue AI when you need it.
